Musica Spei is proud to present the Eleventh Annual Rochester Early Music Festival - “Music for All Hallows: Spirits, Saints, and Sinners”, hosted this year by WXXI’s Brenda Tremblay. Featuring vocal and instrumental soloists and ensembles from the Rochester and national early music communities, we look forward to musical treats for everyone. New this year to the REMF is Concentus, a Rochester-based women’s chorus familiar to many of our audience members, directed by Gwen Gassler. We will also hear performances by Bonnie Choi (harpsichord) with Amy Cochrane (soprano), Musica Spei, Michael Unger (organ) and Boel Gidholm (violin, Publick Music). From the Eastman School of Music, Christel Thielmann (viola da gamba), the Eastman Collegium Musicum, and Baroquen Bones (a trombone ensemble) will be performing. A special surprise is in store for us as well! Deborah Fox (lute), the director of Pegasus Early Music, will be performing with several of her collaborators in the ensemble. You can be sure that all the ensembles will work to find just the right music to create an evening of musical tricks AND treats to delight the ear and challenge the mind.
Following the performance, Musica Spei will host a reception for artists and audience. There will be door prizes; five from a ticket draw, and five awarded for the best Halloween or All Hallow’s masks! We hope that you will come celebrate with us!
Tickets are general admission (no reserved seating): $13 in advance, $15 at the door, $5 for students. Tickets are available for purchase at Parkleigh, ON-LINE via PayPal (which allows payment using any major credit card), or by mail-order. Doors open at 7 PM.
